CFC President Ambassador Otto J. Reich says arrest warrants issued for Vladimir Putin, and his assistant are a positive development.

Calls for scrutiny of the Cuban government's backing of Russia's criminal and illegal war.

Center for a Free Cuba. Washington DC. March 17, 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants earlier today for Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and his assistant  Ms Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova for war crimes in Ukraine.

"The news that Vladimir Putin, and an individual in his chain of command have been issued arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court for their war crimes is a positive development. These warrants are further evidence that Russia's war of terror against Ukraine is criminal", said Ambassador Otto J. Reich, president of the Center for a Free Cuba.

The Russian government has been aided in its illegal and criminal invasion by a small cadre of equally outlaw regimes.

Ambassador Reich added, "for example, the Cuban government has been actively using its diplomatic and propaganda services to support the illegal and criminal invasion of Ukraine by Putin's Russia. Cuban strongman Raul Castro, his hand picked president Miguel Diaz-Canel, and the rest of the ruling class, are profiting from Putin's criminal war of aggression by receiving deliveries of Russian contraband oil, and wheat stolen from Ukraine."

Raul Castro has also been linked in the past to international acts of terrorism; those crimes are not subject to the statute of limitations.
