The Center for a Free Cuba released the following statement today.

Felipe Valls, Cuban American patriot, civic leader, philanthropist and entrepreneur has died. For decades his Restaurant Versailles has been the place where thousands of exiles and friends of a Free Cuba gathered to support the freedom aspirations of millions suffering under Communism.

"Felipe Valls was an exceptional human being who never turned a deaf ear to the cries for help of Castro’s victims. He was also sensitive to the suffering of others," said Guillermo Marmol, chairman of the Center for a Free Cuba.

He loved Cuba, freedom and the United States. His successful life is testimony to his character and to the opportunities available in a free society.

Until his last days he was committed to help to rebuild a free and democratic Cuba. We grieve his loss, and honor his life.

May he rest in peace.
