Center for a Free Cuba. January 31, 2024. Washington DC. Maryan Zablotskyi, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament meets in Washington with opinion and decision makers to bring to their attention the supportive role of Cuba, North Korea, Iran and Venezuela to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On September 14, 2023 Miami Herald journalist Nora Gámez Torres reported that a State Department official said the Administration is: "concerned by reports alleging young Cubans have been deceived and recruited to fight for Russia in its brutal full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia’s need to use deceit to attract foreign fighters indicates both its military weakness and its disregard for human life.We continue to monitor this situation closely."

The Administration's statement was not different from the Obama Administration's response when it was discovered Cuba was smuggling MiGs and war materials to North Korea in 2013. No actions were taken.

Member of Parliament Zablotskyi helped organize a series of protests in Ukraine and other European countries outside Cuban embassies to draw attention to the use of Cuban mercenaries in Vladimir Putin’s war.
He also advocated in Brussels for the cessation of European Union assistance to the Cuban regime.
Maryan Zablotskyi is a member of the Ukrainian Parliament from Servant of the People, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's political party.

Mr. Zablotskyy reports that North Korea has sent over one million artillery shells to Russia. Ukraine came under attack from North Korean ballistic missiles for the first time at the beginning of 2024.

The Iranian drones that bomb Ukraine are reported to be assembled in Venezuela. And the Cuban regime sent thousands of mercenaries to fight against Ukraine. Zablotskyi reported that the whole cooperation of totalitarian regimes is nearly exactly the same as we’ve seen during the Yom Kippur War when Israel was also attacked by Cubans and North Koreans with heavy involvement from Russia.

Mr. Zablotskyi is currently working to create coalitions of Cubans, Venezuelans, Iranians, Koreans, Israelis and others that suffer from the impact of totalitarian regimes.

Prior to being a member of Parliament Mr. Zablotskyi created and chaired different NGOs that advocated for economic freedom.  He focused his activities in Ukraine on land and tax reforms.

Mr. Zablotskyi  can be reached through John Suarez at the Center for a Free Cuba by phone at (612) 367-6845 , or directly by e-mail at m.zablotskyy@gmail.com.
