Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) should be commended for introducing a Senate Resolution for the immediate extradition of American terrorists enjoying the hospitality of the Castro regime. According to the FBI there are more than 70 American fugitives “charged with offenses ranging from hijacking, to kidnapping, drug offenses, to murder” receiving safe harbor in Cuba.
Joanne Chesimard escaped from a federal penitentiary where she was serving a life sentence for murdering a NJ state trooper. She fled to Cuba where she has met groups of American college students visiting the island. One such group from American university. The students were told she was an American political exile in Havana. President Barack Obama missed an opportunity to get the fugitives back when he returned to Cuba several Cuban spies serving in American penitentiaries. Rubio, Menendez Resolution Demands Cuba Extradite NJ Cop Killer Joanne Chesimard, William Morales and Other American Fugitives and Terrorists

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ) introduced a Senate Resolution calling for the immediate extradition or rendering to the United States of convicted felons Joanne Chesimard, William Morales, and all other fugitives from justice who are receiving safe harbor in Cuba in order to escape prosecution or confinement for criminal offenses committed in the United States.
More than 70 fugitives from the United States, charged with offenses ranging from hijacking to kidnapping to drug offenses to murder, are believed to be receiving safe harbor in Cuba.
“The Castro regime’s longstanding refusal to extradite cop killer Joanne Chesimard and domestic terrorist William Morales underscores its hostility to the United States,” said Senator Rubio. “The Castro regime continues to harbor fugitives who have killed and harmed Americans, or threatened America’s national security interests. I am proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan resolution and will continue to oppose any diplomatic overtures with the Castro regime until all these fugitives are extradited to the U.S. to face justice.”
“This Resolution is another step in our effort to bring brazen criminals and terrorists to justice in the United States. As we seek a more responsible U.S.-Cuba policy, we will continue to insist the extradition of Chesimard and Morales be a core precondition to any future negotiations with the Castro Regime,” said Senator Menendez. “There should be no doubt that our policy towards Cuba will never offer any rewards to those who harbor American fugitives, cop killers, plane hijackers, bomb makers, or arms traffickers.”
In May 1973, Chesimard and two accomplices executed New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster during a routine traffic stop. Although Chesimard was tried, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment, she escaped from a New Jersey prison on November 2, 1979 and is currently a fugitive in Cuba. In 2013, Chesimard became the first woman named to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Most Wanted Terrorists list.
William Morales, leader and chief bomb-maker for the terrorist organization FALN, committed numerous terrorist attacks on United States soil, including the bombings of Fraunces Tavern in lower Manhattan in 1975 and the Mobil Oil employment office in New York in 1977, which killed five people, including Frank Connor of Fair Lawn, N.J., and injured over 60 others
